Frugal Friday - The First Full Week in September 2020

Everything is back to a new "normal" this week. I am always grateful for getting into a routine.  I find routines very comforting and calming.  Our routine is certainly different right now - work and school look so different than before and with our remodeling project continuing, each day looks a little different.  It is all good and we are so looking forward to the result!

Here are some of the frugal things we have done this week:

* We cooked all but one lunch at home.  For breakfasts we ate homemade lemon poppy seed muffins, eggs and toast, overnight oatmeal, cold cereal with milk, and fruit and yogurt smoothies.  Lunch was leftovers, pulled pork sandwiches, or noodles with pan seared veggies and cheese.  For dinners we made pork stir fry with rice, sloppy joes on buns with cut veggies, breakfast for dinner (pancakes, bacon and eggs), pork loin with couscous and a spinach salad, spaghetti and meatballs, and homemade pizza.

* John stopped at the grocery store to pick up an order for the food shelf and saw veggie trays on sale for dirt cheap.  On his way home, he stopped and bought two and we have been snacking on the veggies all week.

* We harvested tomatoes, green beans and lettuce from the garden this week.

* We continued to clean out and donated two paper grocery bags of items to the local second-hand store.  We also shredded a lot of old documents we do not need anymore - they will be used as kindling for our outdoor bonfires.

* I replaced a missing button on a shirt.

* Picked zinnias and daisies to put on my kitchen table.

* Extended a tablecloth that fit our old kitchen table so that it fits our current kitchen table.  Cleaning out means I find all the leftover fabric - including scraps from previous projects.  The fabric for this matched!  My tablecloth now just has "strategic" seams and fits our table beautifully.

* John and I went for a walk on our local walking/biking trail twice this week as a date.

* We watched a movie we already owned together as a family.

What did you do this week that was frugal?
