Menu Plan Monday - Week of June 1, 2015
Pork roast, sourdough rolls, tossed salad and fruit - I thought the table looked so pretty! |
The children turned a whole whopping 10 years old (how did that happen?).
We had 5 houseguests for a week and 2 for the whole month.
We had a dance recital, a choir concert and a band concert.
Spring semester ended and Summer session started.
And John graduated with his Master of Divinity degree! (Whoot!)
And I spent the entire month sick - first a head cold/sinus infection, then a locked glut muscle, and then a round of the flu, just so it didn't feel left out.
I'm ready for June, I tell you!
My parents bought groceries while they were here in May (most of the time) and took us out to eat so many times the children were actually asking to stay home and have me or John cook! Grandma or Grandpa would do in a pinch, but they were definitely tired of eating out!
I spent $33.94 on groceries today - fruit (honeydew, apples, bananas, cherries), veggies (cucumbers, radishes), milk, shortening and bleach. I use the bleach to clean the washing machine and we had a spot of mildew that we found while moving furniture so it will take care of that as well.
A parishioner who loves to bake also gifted us with 2 beautiful loaves of bread today after church. I was planning on baking bread tomorrow but now I can enjoy his handiwork instead!
Most of what we're eating (other than the fruit) we already have, either from the pantry or leftover from last week. We bought a huge basket of mixed salad greens at the Farmer's Market last week and have half a pineapple left over. We have some burger patties that we froze that we need to eat and we have four ears of corn that need to be eaten too.
