Super Savings Saturday - 4 pair pants, 2 jackets, 1 blouse, 2 suits plus Jewelry for $65!

So, I am officially in love with Clothes Mentor!  I love, love, love that store!  They recently opened on in a neighboring suburb and after reading rave reviews on several other blogs, I decided to give it a shot!  My first time there I bought 1 pair of slacks, 1 skirt, 3 sweater sets, and a cashmere sweater for $100.  I thought that was pretty good.

Today's "haul" took the cake!  And I'm lovin' it!  I had $60 total to spend, I needed some things for myself and I wanted to stop at another shop and get some things for the kids too.

Today was the last day of the $2 clearance sale.  I only looked at the $2 racks, until it came to the jewelry.  Here's what I got:

These lovely brown gauchos (is that what they're called?).  Cost: $2

These lovely black pin-stripe pants.  Cost: $2

This lovely pair of wide-leg jeans (sorry folks, I don't 'do' the skinny jeans!). Cost: $2

This Coldwater Creek blouse.  I just love the cut and fit of this!  Cost: $2

This lovely wool flannel suit!  I need to hem the skirt up about an inch and a half but the jacket fits like it was tailored for me!  Cost: $2

This lovely broach. Cost: $6

This lovely earring and necklace set (and in real life the earrings are both the same color!). Cost: $9

Total Cost: $27.07 with tax for the jewelry.


I also went to Once Upon a Child for a couple of things for the kids.  I went in looking for an Easter outfit and a spring coat for Buddy.  Here's what I found:
This lovely 3-piece "suit" for Buddy.  Pants, vest and shirt.  $11

Nike windbreaker:  $4.95

Lovely dress coat for Missy: $14

Pair of straight leg knit pants for Buddy for dance class.  $4  (Sorry no pic of these - they're in the wash!)

Total Spent:  $36 with tax for the suit and dress coat. 

I am very happy with what I bought today!  And I'm even happier that John is the only one right now who does not have Easter clothes.  And I have an almost completed new work wardrobe for less than $200!

Menu Plan Monday - Week of January 17, 2021

Peas from my garden last summer.  We are cold and snowy with a lot of ice right now!  Not my favorite weather.  So, to cheer myself up I am starting to plan my garden for next summer!  I am hoping that I will be able to grow at least enough tomatoes and cutting flowers for both my parents (who are moving 1 1/2 blocks away from us in about 2 months - hurray!) and our house as well.   I am so grateful that we have 1/5 acre lot for our home that we can grow vegetables flowers and (currently) a single tree.  It makes me so happy and provides some very fresh produce for our family.  I love the physical act of gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and I love the taste of vegetables fresh from the garden.  A win-win in my book for sure! Frugal Friday - The End of 2016

Another spectacular sunrise - we were so very spoiled by these this year!  I enjoyed every one of them! Nothing like completely forgetting I had a blog for month, right?  I didn't forget about everyone - I promise.   December ended up being ridiculously busy and very spare moment was spent with family and friends and on grading, as the term ended not that long ago.    My parents were visiting for 3 weeks (they returned home to sunny and slightly warmer Texas yesterday) and the children had their Sunday school program, their school Christmas program, and a school fun-day to end the term and John had 3 funerals and two graveside burials.  Then there's always the rush of Christmas and all the services that comes with being a Pastor's family.  I am very, very ready for a quiet start to the new year! In the Refiner's Fire - Things I Learned in 2010

My apologies for this being a wee bit late (as in three days!). Ugh.  Time just got totally away from me on Thursday - took my parents to the airport and then spent the afternoon with my kiddos. What fun that was!  I realized about the time I went to bed that I hadn't posted. Opps! Ditto for Friday!  John was home for the day and we took the kids to the Science Museum of Minnesota to climb on their Geometry Playground before it leaves for a new destination on the 9th of January and then to view the Dinosaur skeletons - a special request from Buddy who is about all things dinosaur right now!  We had a great day, beat the storm home and then played card games, board games and rung in the New Year at midnight as a family with chocolate fondue. Now, we're heading back to normal - or something like that anyway!
