Menu Plan Monday - Week of December 15, 2019
Sweet pickled cucumbers from this past fall - every time I look in the cupboard, I am grateful (this was right after I put them in the jars, so the jars have not all sealed yet!). |
It's been quite the week! The children auditioned for the spring musical at school and landed HUGE roles in the production cast. They are thrilled - a lot of work ahead but very exciting for high school freshman! John had two funerals - one that was just fun and one that had to have plain-clothes police in the congregation (yikes!). One of our children's really good friends was the victim of a very nasty bullying incident at their new high school. His mother hosted an impromptu get-together for his friends from his old school (our children's old school), so of course out children had to attend (they were quite irritated on their friend's behalf!) and our son ended up sleeping over with several other male friends. And, I ended up in the emergency room with what turned out to be a very common, non-cancerous cyst - quite painful but nothing to worry about long term. I think that's enough excitement for the week!
We have a very busy week this week as well - the children have rehearsals and one is in pep band for a sporting event, both have parties this week (one birthday, one holiday). I have two holiday parties, John has Advent worship and the Confirmation service project this week. Additionally, we have three total doctor's appointment, dance class, and my parents are flying in for Christmas and New Years! So, simple meals, leftovers, and a lot of grace this week!
We had ordered fruit through the school's band program a few weeks back and they arrived on Friday. I had ordered a medium box of oranges - I did not realize just how many oranges 26 oranges are! Good thing we love oranges! We should have enough fruit for the next several weeks. Our order contained oranges, pears, apples and grapefruit.
