Saturday as we were driving back from running errands, the kids were singing away in the back seat.

It went something like this....


Missy: "One - Two -Three: Rock and ROLL!"

Both: "Hark! The herald angels sing,..."




Of course, at the top of their lungs!

What more can I ask for?

Menu Plan Monday - Week of January 17, 2021

Peas from my garden last summer.  We are cold and snowy with a lot of ice right now!  Not my favorite weather.  So, to cheer myself up I am starting to plan my garden for next summer!  I am hoping that I will be able to grow at least enough tomatoes and cutting flowers for both my parents (who are moving 1 1/2 blocks away from us in about 2 months - hurray!) and our house as well.   I am so grateful that we have 1/5 acre lot for our home that we can grow vegetables flowers and (currently) a single tree.  It makes me so happy and provides some very fresh produce for our family.  I love the physical act of gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and I love the taste of vegetables fresh from the garden.  A win-win in my book for sure! The name of the game this week is to eat up as much of the fresh stuff as we can so it's easy to move the refrigerator downstairs for our remodel.  They start knocking out walls and cutting holes in the outsid...

Life at Our House...

These last few weeks have been hard emotionally around here. First my cousin took her beautiful 2 1/2 year old off life support. Then I had a 3-day-long allergic reaction between my medications and something I ate, which meant I had to cancel class and stay in bed and deal with a digestive track that was swollen beyond belief.  Then I had to play catch-up from all the stuff I'd missed and didn't get done. Then the kids had spring break with no daycare so we had to juggle schedules and random babysitters and too much of the neighbor child (who is a complete terror!). Then we had a meeting with our Pastor about a lot of not-so-good-things that had been happening at our church.  We thought the meeting would have been decisive and it wasn't.  It just made us more confused. We've been attending another church in the area and it's been wonderful, but it's not "home", which makes me feel adrift and unsupported. Buddy lost his glasses - they'...

In the Refiner's Fire - There's Nothing Wrong with Me, I'm Just Lutheran!

Something I have been struggling with for the last few years, as I have done more reading in the "Christian" realm is  the "Christian Worldview".  Not that I think there's anything wrong with the "Christian Worldview" itself, the problem I have is assumption that all Christians have the same worldview. So much of the Christian literature out there comes from presses that come from Calvinist, Anabaptist, or Catholic backgrounds and while the stuff is good, there's usually something that I disagree with.  Something that bugs me. Something that sticks in my mind and I chew on it for a while and get all "het up" over it and make myself frustrated. We've been struggling with so many things at our church this last year, some of them theological but most of them not.  And in the midst of all of this, I've been coming off two years of serious and undiagnosed illness that made me delve deep into my faith and my own personal conviction...
